In the summers of 2016 and 2017 3D scanning of the standing remains of Trim Castle and its surrounding medieval landscape was undertaken by the IAFS partnered with Prof. Michael ‘Bodhi’ Rogers of University of Colorado, Denver.

In August 2017 the Irish Heritage School partnered with Prof. Michael ‘Bodhi’ Rogers of University of Colorado, Denver to undertake 3D scanning, or digital conservation, of the standing remains.
In December 2016 geophysical survey was undertaken by the IAFS, Ashely Green (Bournemouth University) and the local community. The survey revealed evidence of several trends, including one that is morphologically similar to a back-filled souterrain, as well as a sub-rectangular ‘feature’.
In January 2018 ‘Digging the Lost Town of Carrig’ archaeological project commenced in the Irish National Heritage Park, Wexford, Ireland.
