In December 2019 the IAFS led a community excavation in the field surrounding Clone Church, Clone townland in Co. Wexford.
From 2009 to 2012 the IAFS provided both students and logistical support to excavations at the site of Bective Abbey, the oldest Cistercian foundation in Co. Meath and the second oldest Cistercian foundation in Ireland.
In 2016 and 2017 geophysical site survey and 3D scanning of the standing remains of the Yellow Steeple was undertaken by IAFS, Ashely Green (Bournemouth University) and Prof. Michael ‘Bodhi’ Rogers (University of Colorado, Denver).
In the summers of 2016 and 2017 3D scanning of the standing remains of Trim Castle and its surrounding medieval landscape was undertaken by the IAFS partnered with Prof. Michael ‘Bodhi’ Rogers of University of Colorado, Denver.
In 2018 and 2019 the IAFS supported a program of community research at Drumgoon Graveyard, as well as St. Johns, Druminiskill and Dernakesh Chapel of Ease in both Co. Cavan and Co. Fermanagh.
